Hugh is a creative and innovative relationship counsellor and family therapist, coach, supervisor, and mediator. He is a Registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner and nationally accredited mediator.

In a professional career spanning more than thirty years, Hugh has assisted many individuals, families and groups to make transitions in life. He brings fresh insights to issues, and empowers clients to create their ideal solutions and directions in life.

Hugh’s Approach

Hugh uses engaging approaches and brings a range of creative and effective methods to his work with clients. Officially, Hugh takes a facilitative systematic approach, influenced by family therapy, psychodrama and integral frameworks.

Having completed extensive training, with experience in relationship counselling, family therapy, facilitation and mediation, Hugh has gone on to become an educator and trainer of counselling skills, family therapy and group work skills for counsellors, supervisors, coaches, community workers and managers.

Hugh’s experience also includes many years of professional supervision of counsellors, community health workers, and peer group supervision in both psychodrama and family therapy.

Hugh Thompson also acts as a broker/referral service for client needs where appropriate. He maintains connections with associates in counselling, mediation and consultancy, available for referral to assist with meeting particular client needs.

Mary Kenny specialises in assisting individuals and groups to transform the world. She has worked extensively with small not-for-profit agencies, helping them develop and maintain quality systems and internal systems, including external accreditation under international standards.

Mary is available to work with management and staff to develop appropriate policies and procedures for small not-for-profit agencies. Mary can assist families and individuals with disability to create self-directed funding options.
